ROOTED RESILIENCE: WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP ON CLIMATE ADAPTATION & THE ETHICS OF CARE

This session, hosted by Project Dandelion & the COP30 Presidency, will explore how women’s leadership in adaptation offers a living expression of the ethical values emerging from many of the civil society led Global Ethical Stocktakes.

TIME & LOCATION

Nov 19, 2025, 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM GMT-3

Blue Zone, GES Pavilion, Belém, State of Pará, Brazil

Across the world, women smallholder farmers are redefining what adaptation looks like — not through grand declarations, but through daily acts of leadership, cooperation, and care for the land. Yet their role as climate leaders remains undervalued and underfunded.

This session will explore how women’s leadership in adaptation offers a living expression of the ethical values emerging from many of the civil society led Global Ethical Stocktakes: responsibility, reciprocity, regeneration and relationality. Through an international conversation with women leaders, practitioners and allies, we will examine how ethics can move from theory to practice guiding how climate finance, policy, and partnerships support those already cultivating resilience on the ground.

Participants will be invited to reflect on how centring women’s leadership and ethical adaptation can transform not just our response to climate change, but the very relationships that sustain life.
