As the world turns its eyes toward COP30 in Belém, we see a unique opportunity not only to negotiate climate ambition, but to nurture a lasting legacy of care and connection between generations. Building bridges across age, experience, and perspective feels more essential than ever: it’s how we root climate action in justice, continuity, and shared hope.
With this in heart and mind, the Alana Institute, together with the COP30 Presidency, is convening an Intergenerational Dialogue on Children and Climate. The dialogue, featuring Project Dandelion Co-Founder Mary Robinson, Dandelion and activist Vanessa Nakate, COP30 CEO Ana Toni, Dandelion and IIPFCC Co-Chair Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, and Alana Institute President Ana Lucia Villela, will bring together children, elders, and leaders to share wisdom, listen deeply, and reflect on how the decisions made today can truly honor both present and future generations. The audience will include children from different initiatives and projects connected to the COP, creating a truly intergenerational space of dialogue and learning.
